Discover how unclear priorities and wasted time may be costing you progress—and how to overcome it for sustainable success.
This past week, I had the chance to connect with some incredible business owners to help them get clarity on their bottlenecks and where they need to focus moving forward to drive sales.
It was a powerful experience—not just for them, but also for me.In minutes, I could see exactly why they are not experiencing the growth they desire – none of their challenges are new or novel to me.
Not only have I experienced many of them firsthand, I’ve led countless others through these exact bottlenecks before.
If you’ve been here for a while, you’ve heard me say that business isn’t intrinsically difficult.
We simply experience these inflection moments and setbacks because there’s a gap between the skills that we currently possess and what our businesses require of us to facilitate the next stage of growth.
The onus is on us in those moments to choose to lean in.
These sessions were a reminder of something we often overlook, which is this:
Whether we’re conscious of it or not, we’re always paying for progress one way or another.
We’re either paying with our time or we’re paying with our money.
The irony is that while most people cite time freedom as one of the core motivators for starting their businesses, many will spend months unclear about how best to spend their time to produce the outcomes that they want.
And in doing so, they pay with their time, which naturally has an adverse affect on their ability to sustainably grow their income.
It’s only natural to be confused and unsure – you’re coming up against challenges you’ve never encountered before that you don’t have experience dealing with.
Remaining confused and unclear, though, is a choice.
So it’s worth thinking about this: how much is a lack of clarity not only about what to do but also how to do it, costing you?
To paraphrase Jason Fried, having a lot on your plate or being busy isn’t a sign of productivity at all.
Real productivity is about producing outcomes in the hours you’re working, in a way that creates more space, not less.
To move beyond cycles of trial and error, we need to ask whether we have everything in place to be efficient and effective and arm ourselves with the support to invest our time more discerningly.
Creating a business that doesn’t demand every ounce of your energy, takes time and I will be the first to admit that it isn’t easy.
It’s going to require you to step outside of your comfort zone.
You won’t be able to rest on your laurels or hide in the areas that come naturally to you.
It’s likely going to take longer than you expected and require more energy and patience than people have led you to believe.
And there’ll likely be days when you question yourself and forget why you voluntarily decided to put yourself through this.
And this, my friends, is when you’re actually taking action on the needle drivers and making powerful strides forward.
Just imagine how much harder it is when you’re wasting your time on things that don’t even matter because you’re confused or unclear.
So if you’re starting from scratch, arm yourself with the support to start with intentionality, doing less things, the smart way from the beginning. Life-First Business removes all the guesswork by showing you exactly what you need to do (and how best to do it) at every single stage from the foundations right through to the scale phase.
If you’re overwhelmed right now. Maybe you’re juggling a day job, have kids or balancing a chronic illness, while trying your hardest to get things moving in your business and feeling stretched thin… I get how hard that is, which is even more reason why simply doing more just isn’t going to cut it. I built the system inside Life First Business specially for people like you who want growth and progress but on your own terms.
The strategies inside LFB don’t require being everywhere, doing all the things and taking action on everything you could do. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Inside I teach you how to do business in a way that actually works for you, your capacity and season, even if it doesn’t look the same as everyone else’s.
If this sounds like the kind of business you want to build, Life-First Business can help you.
